May 2011 Workshop

Our May 2011 workshop will be taught by Penny. She will be teaching how to make a purse/tote bag called "Zip and Go". You can order a pattern online from Random Threadz (www.randomthreadz.com) or e-mail questions to (randomthreadz@yahoo.com). Barbie will have kits available with the materials needed for sale or you can bring your own. The workshop will be held May 14 from 10am to 5pm in the fellowship hall at Koza Baptist Church. A potluck lunch will be held at noon. Bring a dish to share.

Materials for tote:
1/2 yard of vinyl pet screen
Fabric- 2 different colors for pockets; third color for pocket lining; lining fabric can be the same as the pocket front or different; bottom and bottom lining are made from left over pieces.
Non-directional fabric-back pocket-1 fat quarter; front pocket-1 fat quarter; pocket linings-1/2 yard or 2 fat quarters; bottom is made from leftover pieces-sew scraps together if necessary.
Directional fabric-Back pocket-1/3 yard; front pocket-1/3 yard; pocket linings-2/3 yard; bottom is made from left over pieces-sew scraps together if necessary.
Binding-front and back pockets-1 fat quarter or 1/6 yard
Binding-around the top and bottom and side trim-1/4 yard-Penny used black synthetic suede-any coordinating color will do.
Fusible interfacing-1 yard-22 inch wide fusible interfacing
Shoulder strap webbing-1 3/4 yards
Zipper-16-18 inch
