Batik Star-
This month we will be doing a Batik star. This project uses Batik fabrics. If you do not want to use Batik fabrics that is ok. You can bring what ever fabric you choose.
Materials: Yardage based on 42" wide fabric
2 1/2 yards of cream marble print for blocks
1 1/8 yards of brown marble print for inner border and binding
51 strips of 2 1/2" x 42 of assorted medium dark to dark batiks for blocks
4 1/4 yards of backing
65" x 77" piece of batting
From each of 20 of the assorted med. dark to dark batik strips, cut:
4 rectangles, 2 1/2"x 6 1/2" (80 total)
2 rectangles 2 1/2 x 4 1/2" (40 total)
From the remaining 31 assorted med. dark to dark batik strips cut
8 rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" (248 total)
From the cream marble print cut
32 strips 2 1/2 x 42": cross cut into:
80 rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"
320 squares, 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
From the brown marble print cut:
13 strips 2 1/2" x 42
*If you want to use your old leftover scraps for this project you will need
Sets of 20
4 matching rectangles 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" for the center star of each block (80 total)
8 matching rectangles 2 1.2" x 4 1/2" for the star our line of each block (160 total)
4 matching rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" (80 total) and 16 matching squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" (320 total) for the back ground of each block
124 rectangles od 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" for the outer border*
