Helen has been asked to teach her paper pieced ginger jar pattern in May. She will be leaving Okinawa this year and has passed on her knowledge to Setsuko in case she is unable to teach the workshop herself. Helen's wall hanging was done in blue and white, but other colors would be equally beautiful. You need a main color and an accent color as well as the background color. This pattern was designed by June Colburn.
April 2012
In April there will be no guild meeting since Barbie will be gone, but we will have our regular workshop at Koza. We have asked Yoriko to teach a log cabin chicken tea cozy. We will also be working on UFOs. If you want to make the tea cozy, you need to bring 3 lights, 3 darks, a center color (that can also be used for the tail and comb) and fabric for the lining and binding.
March Workshop
The March workshop will be held March 17, at 10 am at Koza Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Bring a dish to share. Mr. Adachi, Mr. Idei, two other teachers, and Tomi from mainland Japan will be here to teach a workshop on a special technique-confetti landscape quilting by the famous Japanese quilt artist Noriko Endo. Endo sensei has written a book on this technique which she teaches in Japan and America. You need to bring a simple picture or photo and fabric or fabric scraps with matching colors to make your landscape. We can share fabrics and colors to make our masterpieces. Mr. Kuniyoshi will also be there, and Mr. Idei will be bringing the largest Bernina machine to demonstrate. Hope to see you there.
Barbie will be going early (around 9:30 to set up if anyone would like to help her get things ready for when they arrive). The other quilt guild has been invited to join us to learn this special technique. Mr. Adachi has asked that we bring our stippling foot if we have one. Come and learn together.
